Caddie Williams Denies Knowledge of Tiger's Affairs

Tiger Woods' caddie, Steve Williams, expressed anger at American sports writers who said Williams must have known about Woods' reported extramarital affairs and may even have helped arrange the liaisons.

Williams made those comments to the Sunday News in his native country of New Zealand. "What people fail to realize is I (just) work for Tiger Woods," he told the newspaper. "Whilst I am a very good friend of his . . . I don't know what he does off the course.

"When he is not competing, I am back in New Zealand. I have no knowledge of what he is doing. I am an honest person. I had no knowledge of what was going on. If I did, I would say I did."

Williams also refuted claims in front of a news camera that he knew nothing of Tiger's affairs. After saying he had no knowledge of Woods' infidelities, Williams commented: "To have been labeled a liar in the media is very disappointing to me," adding that it "really made me sick."

Williams added that Woods has "obviously got something to work out. I just hope for everybody's sake that him and his family - his lovely wife Elin - can repair the damage and get back together. They're a great family and they're very close to me and my wife."
