Cabo del Sol to Get Yet Another Course

Cabo del Sol, a master-planned community and resort about 10 miles east of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, is planning to add a third 18-hole golf course. The layout, to be designed by Tom Doak and named The Alta Vista Course, will join the original Ocean and Desert courses, designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf, respectively. The latter course opened in November 2001.

Featuring several hundred time-share condominiums, Cabo del Sol also contains the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar hotel, many recreational activities, and several restaurants. Single-family lots also dot the tawny hillside around the 28-acre resort. The overall community and golf course properties total over 2,000 acres. Work on The Alta Vista Course is slated to begin in fall 2002. It, like the other two championship-level courses, will be operated by Troon Golf.
