BrightStar Acquires Whitney Oaks |
|
BrightStar Golf Group LLC, a Carlsbad, Calif.-based golf management firm, and Newland Communities have acquired Whitney Oaks Golf Club. This is BrightStar Golf's acquisition; it bought The Pinery Country Club in Parker, Colo., last year.
BrightStar Golf Group purchased the club from Newland Communities. Newland is currently developing over 60 signature communities in 11 states including Whitney Oaks and Whitney Ranch in Rocklin, Calif., a suburb of Sacramento in Placer County.
The course is the centerpiece of a 1,062 acre master-planned community with approximately 1,800 homes, two recreation centers, miles of hiking trials and three public parks.
Whitney Oaks is 18-hole layout that winds through giant oaks, granite outcroppings and a multitude of wetlands. The 160-acre course boasts five sets of tees. The course was designed by Johnny Miller and Fred Bliss, and features 419 Hybrid Bermuda grass/perennial rye tees and bent grass greens.
"We're excited to announce the second property in our growing portfolio and are delighted to have participated with Newland Communities on this acquisition," said Bill Keogh, founder of BrightStar Golf. "It's our plan to immediately begin golf course improvements to include reshaping selected greens, softening several green surrounds, and increasing fairway widths to improve playability. In a short period of time, golfers will see these changes and the benefit will be much more enjoyable golf experience."
