Bob Hope Classic Offers Free Admission to Active Military

More than five years after his death, Bob Hope still is having an impact on the U.S. military. The Bob Hope Classic Hosted by Arnold Palmer is extending a special offer to all active-duty military personnel and families for free admission to this year's 50th anniversary Bob Hope Classic, January 19-25.

To receive a ticket, military personnel do not need to be in uniform, but must present identification showing them as active duty personnel at the SilverRock public parking admissions gate where they will be given a daily gallery pass.

"Bob Hope was such a strong supporter of our armed services, we want to be sure that any active military personnel can attend this historic event," said John Foster, president of the Bob Hope Classic.

During his long career, Hope entertained U.S. troops so often that he was made an "Honorary Veteran" by a 1997 Act of Congress, signed by President Clinton.

Arnold Palmer will serve as host of the 50th anniversary Bob Hope Classic. Palmer played in the tournament 42 of its 50 years and also won five of his 62 PGA Tour titles at the Classic, including his last Tour event win in 1973.

Since the inception of the Bob Hope Classic in 1960, the tournament has donated more than $45 million to charities throughout the Coachella Valley. For further details, visit www.bhcc.com or call 888/MR-BHOPE (672-4673).
