Belfrey International Gets New Owner and Brighter Future

Belfrey International Golf Club in Henrietta, N.Y., will soon be completed thanks to a new owner. Developer Tom O'Meara of Carmel, Calif., recently purchased the nearly completed course located just outside of Rochester. With a deep background in the development and operation of golf courses, O'Meara brings considerable expertise to the development.
With the new ownership, the long-awaited grand opening of the Dave Thomas-designed layout is scheduled for summer 2005, when the first nine holes will be completed. The entire course is scheduled for completion by July 15, 2005. The course boasts waterfalls, ponds, rolling hills, nice vistas and a good test of golf.
Thomas, a successful pro golfer in Europe who played on four Ryder Cup teams, is the designer of two courses at the Belfrey in England. That club is not only the home of previous Ryder Cup matches, but also be the sister club to Belfrey International in Henrietta.
O'Meara has over 26 years of experience in banking, real estate, golf and community development. O'Meara is also behind one of California's newest developments, Running Horse Golf & Country Club in Fresno. O'Meara is president of Cypress Investment Corporation, a lender in high-end golf developments.
