America’s Wetland & Ducks Unlimited to Host Louisiana Tournament

The America's Wetland Campaign to Save Coastal Louisiana and Ducks Unlimited are joining forces on Tuesday, October 10, for a Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament. The event will be held at the Paragon Casino Resort's course in Marksville, La.
Paragon Casino Resort, a sponsor of the America's Wetland Campaign since its start, is also hosting the Tight Lies Tour professional golf tournament at Tamahka Trails. The tournament will bring in over 100 professionals to Marksville, giving those who participate in the America's Wetland/Ducks Unlimited charity pro-am an opportunity to learn from the pros. Since 1984, Tight Lies Tour has graduated over 30 players to the PGA Tour.
"This is a great event with two of our partners who have supported efforts to save coastal Louisiana for many years," said Valsin A. Marmillion, managing director of the America's Wetland Campaign. "It gives those who value Louisiana's incredible outdoors an opportunity to enjoy professional golf and benefit our efforts to save this sportsman's paradise."
A 7:30 a.m. shotgun start will kick off the day. Tournament entry fees of $250 per player and $700 for a three-man team cover cart fees, green fees, lunch and a pro-am prize package. Each team will be partnered with a professional golfer.
Individuals or groups interested in entering the tournament can receive entry forms by contacting tournament coordinator Chris Burkstaller at 225/718-1107 or online at www.americaswetland.com. Sponsorships are also available.
All proceeds from this tournament will benefit the America’s Wetland and Ducks Unlimited. The largest, most comprehensive public education campaign in the state’s history, America’s Wetland was launched to raise public awareness of the loss of Louisiana’s wetlands. The initiative is supported by a growing coalition of world, national and state conservation and environmental organizations and has drawn private support from businesses that see wetlands protection as a key to economic growth.
