Alabama Takes Top Spot in College Poll

The second Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll of the spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the March 14th issue of Golf World and can be viewed at www.golfworld.com.      
After winning its first two events of the spring, Alabama becomes the fourth different school to hold the top spot in the poll during the 2007-08 season. The Crimson Tide earned 13 of 23 first-place votes after winning the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational and the Puerto Rico Classic. Alabama has won four of its seven starts this season. Georgia (No. 2) earned nine first-place votes and Charlotte (No. 3) earned one. Rounding out the top-five are Oklahoma State (No. 4) and UCLA (No. 5).
Tennessee (No. 9) moved into the top-ten following up a victory at the Ping/Arizona Invitational with a third place tie at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational and a second place finish at the USC Intercollegiate.
