A-Ga-Ming Opens Sundance Course |
|
Located on the shores of Torch Lake just north of Traverse City, A-Ga-Ming Resort has added a new golf course to its list of features. Sundance Golf Club, which opened in May 2005, now gives A-Ga-Ming 36 holes of championship golf.
The Sundance course was designed by Michigan architect Jerry Matthews. The Michigan-based Matthews also designed such popular area layouts as Bucks Run, Elk Ridge and Timber Ridge.
Situated on a bluff, Sundance offers great views of Torch Lake to the east and Lake Michigan's Grand Traverse Bay to the west. From the clubhouse golfers enjoy glimpses of 15 holes of the new course. Included with the project is a new full-service practice facility.
Sundance involves a combination of rolling links and Northern Michigan hardwoods. The course boasts fescue-covered mounds, wide fairways, large greens and strategically placed bunkers. Among the signature holes at Sundance is No.17. This picturesque 210-yard par-3 plays from tees high atop a wooded ridge, the drops 80 feet to a big green surrounded by large maples and cedars. Visible from the tee is nearby Torch Lake.
Located in the heart of America's so-called “Summer Golf Capital,” A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort lies near Traverse City, Charlevoix, Petoskey and many of Northern Michigan’s myriad natural wonders. The original A-Ga-Ming layout is a par-72 track overlooking Torch Lake, considered one of the three most beautiful inland lakes in the world. It meanders over hills, through stately pines and mature hardwoods and across swift-flowing creeks.
