36 Holes Now Open at New England Resort |
|
In 2005, work finished up on the two championship courses at Lake of Isles Golf Club & Resort in North Stonington, Conn. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation owns Lake of Isles, located on 900 acres across the street from the tribe’s Foxwoods Resort Casino. Managed by Troon Golf, the project involves an 18-hole private course (South), an 18-hole resort course (North), a clubhouse, golf academy and eight luxury golf villas.
Acclaimed golf course architect Rees Jones designed the 36 holes here, crafting fairways from land encircling the 90-acre Lake of Isles. The two courses feature rolling terrain, island greens and tees, and excellent views.
The Resort Course (called North) is open to daily-fee golfers and casino guests. The championship tees will stretch more than 7,300 yards, but multiple tee locations will adapt to golfers of all skills. Green fees will be priced from $100 to $175, based on the season. The tariff pays for 18 holes with a cart, range balls, yardage book, bag tag, divot tool and tees.
The Private Course (South), also 7,300 yards, is open to 298 members and their guests. The developer has promised that the conditions of this course will be among the best in New England.
The Lake of Isles Golf Academy is one of the most advanced teaching facilities in the Northeast. The complex features enclosed instructional areas equipped with videotaped swing analysis equipment as well as an indoor practice area and classrooms. An outdoor facility contains separate chipping, putting and bunker practice areas. A staff of PGA and LPGA teaching professionals are available for instructing both resort guests and the members.
Each Lake of Isles Golf Villa - slated for completion in 2006 - will have four suites with luxury baths and a common room with a fireplace. A covered porch and service kitchen will be available for in-suite catered dining.
