All proceeds from the 2012 BMW Championship benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, which awards full tuition and housing college scholarships to caddies from modest means.
"The support of the golf community affords us the tremendous opportunity to award the gift of a college education to deserving caddies," said John Kaczkowski, WGA president and CEO, adding that the WGA supports 825 Evans Scholars at 19 universities. "We hope to donate more than $2 million in proceeds to the Evans Scholars Foundation through the 2012 BMW Championship."
"Crooked Stick is one of the top-100 golf courses in the nation, and we hope the availability of multiple ticket options and ample parking will allow patrons to experience a world-class event firsthand, all while supporting caddie scholarships," said Vince Pellegrino, WGA vice president of tournaments.
The WGA conducts three national golf championships: The BMW Championship on the PGA Tour, the Western Amateur and the Western Junior. The BMW Championship is the penultimate event of the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedEx Cup.
