2008 Seattle Golf Show Sets Dates

The 2008 Seattle Golf Show tees off the Northwest golf season March 14-16 at Qwest Field Event Center. The show will feature new contests with big prizes, free rounds of golf and activities for the entire family.

A Seattle Golf Show tradition continues with every registered adult receiving a complimentary round of golf with each adult paid admission. These rounds can be played at such courses like McCormick Woods, Port Ludlow and Avalon. New this year, attendees will receive a complimentary one-year subscription to Golf Digest or Golf for Women magazines.

With all the major golf manufacturers on hand, the Puetz Golf Superstore's "Try and Buy Center" will feature over $1 million in inventory of the newest clubs and accessories for sale. Attendees can try out clubs, get properly fitted on-site and in most cases leave the show with new clubs in hand.

"This is a first for this show and an attraction show-goers have been clamoring for. It's a true one-stop shopping opportunity for area golfers," said John Tipping, one of the show's new owners, who is introducing a fresh line-up of events, features and attractions.

Another first is the Washington State Putting Championships, presented by the Seattle Golf Show and KJR Sports Radio 950, with the winner taking home $5,000 cash or a deluxe golf vacation. Following a series of qualifying rounds at area golf courses and during the first two days of the show, a match-play "ladder" at the show on Sunday will determine the ultimate winner.

The expanded event also includes a line-up of exhibitors showcasing the latest equipment, an hourly golf trip and equipment giveaway, golf travel destinations and communities, free instruction by PGA professionals and a kid's club fitting area.

Water hazards normally spell trouble for golfers, but at this year's show it could mean a travel package from Kenmore Air. Golfers will step onto the Seahawk's field and attempt to hit their golf balls into a series of pools spread across Qwest Field - with shots "getting wet" entered into the drawing for the trip.

There will be watery action indoors as golfers attempt a 40-foot chip into a new hot tub. With each shot that goes into the tub, the golfer's name is entered into an end-of-the-show drawing for the tub.

Putters will be challenged with a 50-foot putt sponsored by 7 Cedars Casino. With each successful attempt, golfers win a free round of golf at the new Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course in Sequim.

At the show's huge PGA Clearance Center, golfers can stock up on discounted golf gear and golf apparel with savings of up to 70% off the regular price.

A very special addition to the show is its Friday Night Charity Gala benefiting the American Lake Veterans Golf Course. This special event, held "after hours" at the show, has been created to raise money for the course that is used by wounded and disabled soldiers at the Madigan and VA Hospitals. Cost for this event is $90 per person. Those who attend the private event will also get a free round of golf, Golf Digest subscription for one year, plus the food, drink and entertainment provided for the evening.

The 2008 Seattle Golf Show runs Friday, March 14 through Sunday, March 16. Hours are Friday (March 14), noon to 6 p.m.; Saturday (March 15) 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday (March 16) 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $10.00 for adults, youth (11-17) $3.00, and free to kids 10 and under when accompanied by an adult.
