2007 Cleveland Golf Pro-Scratch At Angel Park Set for This Summer |
|
The 2007 Cleveland Golf Pro-Scratch at Angel Park Golf Club will take place Sunday, July 22 (on the Mountain Course) and Monday, July 23 (Palm Course). Two-person teams comprised of one professional and one scratch amateur will compete in a "one best ball of two" format for a total purse of more than $12,000.
"The Pro-Scratch started out years ago as a reason to get together and have a lot of fun in fabulous Las Vegas," said Kris Strauss, director of sales and marketing for OB Sports Golf Management, Angel Park's operator. "While it still serves that purpose, there is some substantial money on the line and we all get our game faces on. We truly appreciate the support of Cleveland Golf and TI (Treasure Island) for bringing this fun-filled event to the next level."
While the field is primarily made up of golf professionals and amateurs from Southern Nevada, previous events have featured team entries from other Western states including California, Arizona, Washington, to name a few. Notable professionals such as Robert Gamez, Jeremy Anderson and Ed Fryatt have played in previous events.
The teams will compete for cash, gift certificates, hole-in-one prizes and skins throughout the two-day event. Following the first round of play, the top 15 teams that prepay for the Horse Race will have the opportunity to compete in a four-hole shoot-out on the Cloud Nine Short Course. A fun-filled "event within the event,"the shoot-out featured an ace on the first hole by Gamez in 1996.
Angel Park Golf Club is a 36-hole facility in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas. Its Mountain Course and Palm Course were both designed by Arnold Palmer. The club also has a 12-hole Short Course, the world's first natural-grass putting course and an expansive practice area - all of which are lighted for evening enjoyment.
